Quick question: for owners managing chronic mitral valve disease at home, what tools have you found most reliable — RRR apps, simple tally counters, or wearables? In our case we aim for resting respiratory rate under 30/min and adjust furosemide based on 3–5 day trends, and I’m considering 24‑hour patch Holter use for sporadic syncope — how’s the compliance and false alarm rate in your hands?
the most reliable day-to-day has been boring: a cheap tally counter + 60‑sec timer while they’re in true sleep; if I see a 3–5 day upward drift toward your “under 30/min” line, I flag it and call. Wearables are great for activity but RR is noisy — false alarms drive me nuts — so for syncope I’ve had better luck with a 24–48 h Holter only if we fully clip and use a snug baby T‑shirt for adhesion; otherwise compliance/artifact tanks (ACVIM on home RRR: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/jvim.15488). @OP which patch brand are you eyeing?
Tally counters work great for resting respiratory rates, but I’d also consider a simple app for tracking trends over time. How’s the compliance been with the Holter patch you’ve looked into?
