For example, I introduced some hanging fruit toys that promote foraging and wow, the responses were amazing! I’m curious if anyone else has tried DIY enrichment tools or specific techniques tailored for different species. Would love to hear your experiences?
I totally get the excitement about the hanging fruit toys! I once tried using shredded paper with some treats tucked inside for my cockatiel, and she loved it. But, sometimes they just ignore the DIY stuff completely, which , drives me nuts.
I’ve had great success with DIY swings made from natural branches wrapped in sisal rope; my macaw loves to swing and chew on them! Just make sure to watch for any splinters or loose fibers — better to have a safe bird than a busy one, right?
I’ve found that a simple cardboard box with some holes cut out for my parakeets can lead to hours of fun; they love to explore and pull treats out! Have you tried any variations of this, @kristen_b76?
