I still hear “a wet nose means a healthy dog.” On shifts, I teach owners to check gum color and do a quick skin-tent instead — pale gums or slow snap-back is a bigger red flag than a dry nose. Caveat: a warm, dry nose after a nap is normal, but pair dryness with lethargy or vomiting and call your vet.
