Isn’t it funny how every time a pet comes in, we ask the owner if the pet could have eaten anything strange? I swear if I had a dollar for every ‘but he’s never done that before’ response, I could fund an upgrade to our radiology equipment! Sometimes I wonder if pets have their own secret lives that we’re just not in.
It’s wild how often pets surprise us! I’ve learned to ask owners about specific locations or items they’ve spotted at home. Some owners are shocked when they realize their pet made a beeline for the trash can.
Right? I can’t count how many times I’ve heard ‘he’s never done that before’ right before someone pulls out a half-eaten sock; it’s like they have a secret stash of stuff they’re just waiting to show us at the vet… Maybe we should start interviewing pets directly — any idea how to do that? @adamH34.
I totally feel you! , the ‘he’s never done that before’ line always gets me, especially when it’s paired with a chewed-up shoe in their bag. It makes me think we need to offer a course on the secret lives of pets.
